It is the start of a new year, a perfect time to get planning, set new goals and have a strategy for the new year. Lots of people think new year resolutions are cliche but as humans, we need that constant reminder, that burst of motivation to get things done. One of the reasons I created this space was to inspire you and myself to push those boundaries and live each day purposely.
There are 4 key areas I would focus on in this blog post, areas that are very essential to be intentional about in the new year.
Career: It can be very easy to stay afloat in a job by just sailing through year after year. The actual question that needs to be asked is, are you fulfilled. If the answer is yes, it means you must have reached a point where the next phase or the next step isn't much of a worry or perhaps you may have crossed those hurdles to reach that phase. If your answer is no, there is no pressure but you have to now create a career plan that would ultimately propel you to the next phase. The way to do this is by setting an intentional career development plan, which may include the next steps to take in your career or a new career path. When this plan has been set, the next step will be to find a means to measure the achievement.
Living: Having set a career goal for the year, it can be very easy to neglect everything else. What we often fail to realize is that our living space has a huge role to play in keeping us motivated. Take time to intentionally make your living space a safe haven, a clean space that gives you that moment of peace and rest and also a space where you can feel inspired to set goals or work towards achieving those goals. Wellbeing: One personal goal for this year is to practice wellbeing. I have to be intentional about it. A healthy body and mind is needed to achieve all those set goals. One needs days off, intentional rest time and a peaceful calming atmosphere. A short walk each day or a slightly longer walk on 3-4 days a week can be very useful. Personal developmental plans: This is one key area that is often taken forgranted. It is easy to focus on other aspects of our lives that we forget our own personal plans. It could be anything from weight loss, healthier habits, decluttering, personal career goals, etc there are different aspects of our personal lives that we need to be intentional about especially in a fast paced world where things can change very quickly.
